An explanation of the processes of conservation, restoration and preservation of local heritage, including a walking tour of Havana’s historical centre and an examination of the work of the Office of the City Historian. Includes an explanation of the projects run by the Planning Department and the Local Human Development Programme and also of the Office of the City Historian’s commercial arm Habaguanex. There are visits to a local maternity home, to a centre for the Third Age and to protected housing in Plaza Vieja. Visitors are also taken to a rehabilitation centre for children with diseases of the central nervous system, to the Sisterhood of Embroiderers and Weavers of Bethlehem, to the School of Restoration and to the inter-generational project being run in the Convento de Belén.
