The defensive requirements of the city of Havana were closely linked to its development and its role as the principal port of the Spanish Empire in the Americas. Its fortifications now form part of the area declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This tour commences with a visit to the Castillo de la Real Fuerza and to the remains of the original city walls, then crosses the bay for visits to the Fortaleza de San Carlos de la Cabaña and to the celebrated Castillo de los Tres Santos Reyes Magos del Morro.
